How to Flash Asus ZenFone 5Z Firmware via SD Card Recovery

1. First, download the firmware Asus ZenFone 5Z recovery here.
2. Make sure to download with the same SKU you use.
3. To downgrade, download the downgrade version.
4. After downloaded rename with update.zip, and move the firmware .zip into SD Card or MicroSD. Do not move into a folder and don’t extract the firmware, just move into the main path.
5. Enter into recovery.
   How to enter Recovery on Asus ZenFone 5Z:
   Press Volume Down + Power wait until you see the image below.
6. If you see a pop-up No command, just press Volume Up.
7. Use the Volume button for navigation Up and Down, and Power to Select or Enter.
8. First, go to wipe data/factory reset (this will wipe your internal memory).
9. Press Yes.
10. Back to Main Menu and press apply update from sdcard.
11. Kembali ke menu utama, sekarang pilih apply update form sdcard.
12. Navigate to Asus ZenFone 5Z firmware.
13. Now, flashing will start and wait until finish.
14. After finish, select reboot system now to boot into the wizard menu.

How to Flash Asus ZenFone 5Z Firmware via PC

Tools and Firmware Download

• Minimal ADB Fastboot
• Firmware Asus ZenFone 5Z
• Asus USB Driver

Flashing

1. Install Minimal ADB Fastboot and the driver.
   Skip this step if you already install the driver.
2. Enter Recovery, do like above.
3. Go to apply update from ADB.
4. You also can wipe data/factory reset before flash.
5. Now, connect Asus with your PC.
6. Rename Asus firmware to update.zip, move the files into Minimal ADB Fastboot path, C:/Program Files (x86)/Minimal ADB and Fastboot.
7. On the folder press shift + Right Click and press the Open command window here.
8. To ensure your ASUS is detected with your PC, please enter this command:
   

   fastboot devices

9. If your phone detected like the image below, your phone ready to flash. If not, try to change the cable data and install the driver correctly.
10. To flash, enter this command:
    

    adb sideload update.zip

11. Wait until flash finish.
12. Your phone Asus will reboot automatically after flashing finishes.
13. If not, back to the main menu and select reboot system now.
14. First booting after flash will take a minute, just wait to boot to the main menu and this is not bootloop or error.
15. Flash Asus 5Z via PC is done.
